Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience

"We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them. These truths are:
  1. the sanctity of human life
  2. the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife
  3. the rights of conscience and religious liberty."
"We are Christians who have joined together across historic lines of ecclesial differences to affirm our right—and, more importantly, to embrace our obligation—to speak and act in defense of these truths. We pledge to each other, and to our fellow believers, that no power on earth, be it cultural or political, will intimidate us into silence or acquiescence. It is our duty to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in its fullness, both in season and out of season. May God help us not to fail in that duty." This excerpt from the introduction to the Manhattan Declaration gives an idea of what this powerful document, written in September 2009, wishes to accomplish. This is a wonderful effort of Christians uniting to win the culture back. It clearly and charitably explains the clear Christian stance on Life, Marriage, and Religious Liberty. This should be read by all Catholics and it's explanations of these topics should be digested and memorized. Read it, sign it, and pass it on! Read the Declaration, then Sign the Declaration. http://www.manhattandeclaration.org/
